Whole School Values
Our whole school values underpin our PSHE curriculum. This year, the values are the focus for each half term and the core theme of our assemblies. We start each half term with a Values Day to introduce and celebrate the focus value. Our school values are:
Autumn 1 – Kindness
Autumn – Respect
Spring 1 – Responsibility
Spring – Honesty
Summer 1 – Friendship
Summer – Happiness
Curriculum Statement of Intent for PSHE
At St George’s Primary School, we deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and maximises the development of every child. It will give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up and to understand and appreciate diversity. We provide our children with opportunities to develop their sense of self-worth; learn about rights and responsibilities and to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community. As a result of this, they will become healthier, more independent and responsible members of society.
Our PSHE Curriculum is a whole school thematic approach, so that all year groups will be working on the same themes at the same time. This whole school approach allows teachers to plan and build a spiral programme of learning year on year allowing children to build on what they know and deepen their understanding.
We currently follow the Jigsaw scheme of work to deliver the PSHE curriculum which meets the statutory requirements and is streamed into these 3 core themes:
- Health and Well-being
- Living in the Wider World
